4. The Divine Mirror – G-d and Man in Reflection

In the last post, we introduced two revolutionary ideas from Chabad Chassidus:

1. G-d is One – Ain Od Milvado – There is nothing besides Him.

2. Man is Divine – Chelek Elokah Mimaal Mamash – The soul is literally a part of G-d.

   
   

These are not just ideas to write on a whiteboard. These are reality-defining truths meant to reshape how we see the world and ourselves.

But here’s the challenge:You can’t truly understand one without the other. And yet… you can’t understand either unless you start somewhere.

The Loop

If you want to understand G-d, Chassidus tells you to look at yourself. The soul is a reflection of G-d’s essence. We are created “in His image,” and our Divine soul is our only internal window into what G-d is.

But then again, how can you begin to understand the soul, if you don’t know what it’s a reflection of? How can you grasp what it means to be “a piece of G-d” unless you first have a concept of Who or What G-d is?

So where do you start?

Chassidus answers: you start with both.

G-d and the soul mirror each other. Like two sides of the same coin, each one helps reveal the other. Not in a straight line—but in a circle. The more you understand G-d, the more you understand yourself. The more you understand yourself, the more you understand G-d.

A Framework for Feeling

This is not just philosophy. These teachings are meant to be experienced. But abstract truth—even Divine truth—needs a bridge to your heart and mind. You need a way to relate to it. To feel it.

That’s where metaphor comes in.
